The Implant Treatment Process

Placement

After your treatment plan is confirmed, we'll arrange your oral surgery and outline the procedure. In the surgery, a precise incision will be made in your gum to place the dental implant into your jawbone securely. Following this, we'll meticulously clean the area and apply sutures to initiate the healing phase.

Healing & Osseointegration

The healing process begins as soon as the implant is in place. The site of the incision will heal within 1-2 weeks. However, it takes about 3-6 months for the implant to fully integrate with your jawbone, a process known as osseointegration. During this period, we'll schedule a few follow-up visits to monitor your progress and ensure everything is healing correctly.

Applying the Restoration

The final step is the restoration phase. We will tailor-make a beautiful dental crown that complements your smile seamlessly and attach it securely to the abutment which securely attaches to your implant. With this final step, your smile will be beautifully restored and complete!

Dr. Shane Drew

Dr. Drew was born and raised in the Tacoma, Washington area. He’s always loved working with his hands. That’s why he majored in biochemistry and minored in ceramic arts while attending the University of Puget Sound. Afterward, Dr. Drew attended the University of Washington School of Dentistry for his dental degree.

Fresh out of dental school, Dr. Drew worked in some large corporate dental offices as an associate dentist. He saw first-hand how some dentists would cut corners and provide sub-par treatment just to maximize their bottom line. And that’s what drove him to begin his own private dental practice.

At Drew Dentistry, Dr. Drew decided to do things differently. He has invested in the technology, training, and expert staff necessary to provide truly comprehensive dental care. And as a private, dentist-owned practice, Dr. Drew can create an environment where patients are always the #1 priority.
